Women's Tennis to Host 2011 ITA Kick-Off Weekend

DURHAM, N.C.-The Duke University women's tennis team was selected as one of 15 programs to host the 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend in January. The Blue Devils will host Tulsa, Texas A&M and Brown the ITA announced after its 2010 ITA Division I Women's Kick-Off Weekend Draft was completed.

As host and No. 1 seed, Duke will play No. 4 seed Brown in the opening contest, while Tulsa and Texas A&M will square off against each other in the second match. The winners of the day one matches will meet on day two for a chance to qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.

Duke has hosted the event each of the past two seasons and has advanced to the National Team Indoor Championship both times.

The Blue Devils recently completed the 2010 season with a 22-8 overall record. Seeded 10th in the NCAA Tournament, Duke advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinal before falling to ACC rival North Carolina. The Blue Devils closed out the year ranked ninth as a team and second among all ACC programs.
