Women's Tennis to Host 2012 ITA Kickoff Event

DURHAM, N.C.-The Duke University women's tennis team has been selected to serve as a host for the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend in a draft held on Thursday, June 9. The Blue Devils are one of 15 programs across the country chosen to host the event that will run from Jan. 27-30.

The women's matches will take place on Jan. 27 and Jan. 29 at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. Duke is the top seed with Winthrop, Illinois and College of Charleston coming in at the No. 2-4 seeds, respectively. Duke will take on the No. 4 seed College of Charleston in its first match with the winner advancing for a chance to move onto the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Feb. 10-13.

Duke will be hosting for the fourth consecutive season. The Blue Devils advanced to the ITA National Indoor Championship last season with wins over Brown and Texas A&M.

Fri, Jan 27 - 10 am - Winthrop vs. Illinois

Fri, Jan 27 - 2 pm - Duke vs. College of Charleston

Sat, Jan 28 - 6 pm Winner Match 1 vs. Winner Match 2

Sun, Jan 29 - 9 am Loser Match 1 vs. Loser Match 2
