WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – Junior Fred Saba and freshmen Daniel McCall and Josh Levine all advanced on the first day of action at the Wake Forest Fall Invitational, as the Duke men’s tennis team posted an undefeated 5-0 record on the day at the tournament played in Winston Salem, N.C.

As the fourth-seeded player in the A1 singles draw, Saba defeated Siim Tuus of Liberty, 6-0, 7-5. The 111th-ranked player in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s preseason rankings will battle Elon’s Cameron Silverman in the second round on Saturday.

In the A2 singles draw, Levine earned a three-set victory against Chris Cooprider of UNC Wilmington, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The Syosset, N.Y., product will play Nelson Vick of UNC in the second round, who is the top-seeded player in the draw and the 68th-ranked player in the country.

McCall also advanced to the second round in the B singles draw after earning a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win against Gaston Murray of UNC Greensboro. The rookie will take on UNCW’s Kosta Blank.

In the first round of action in the A doubles draw, Saba and McCall escaped with an 8-6 decision against the Davidson duo of Joe Schafer and Nicky Kunz. In the second round, the Blue Devil pair cruised to an 8-2 victory against UNCW’s Rafael Aita and Sam Williams. The tandem will face 17th-ranked David Hopkins and Amogh Prabhakar of Wake Forest in the semifinals on Saturday.

Two rounds of singles and one round of doubles are scheduled to be played on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
