DURHAM, N.C. – Three members of the Duke women’s tennis team are set to participate in the San Diego State University Fall Classic, which will take place from Sept. 27-29 at the Aztec Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
Competing this weekend for the Blue Devils will be 78th-ranked senior Marianne Jodoin, junior Annie Mulholland and freshman Alyssa Smith. Other teams seeing action will be San Diego State, Grand Canyon University, San Diego, New Mexico State, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount and Duke.
Jodoin, who is out of Varennes, Quebec, will face Susana Alcaraz of New Mexico State University in the first round. A product of Portland, Ore., Mulholland will face Marta Stojanovic of San Diego in round one. Both Jodoin are seeded in the Red Bracket for singles. Smith, who is out of Laguna Niguel, Calif., will kick off play in the Black Bracket against Denise Van Der Ben of New Mexico State.
Duke will not feature any doubles teams in this tournament.
The tournament will feature five singles draws and three doubles brackets. Action will get underway each day beginning with doubles play with first serve set for 9 a.m. with singles competition immediately following.
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to park in PS 5 on the corner of 55th Street and Montezuma Road. Parking is $1 per hour and is always required in PS 5. The Aztec Tennis Center is located just beyond Tony Gwynn Stadium, SDSU Softball Stadium and the Aztec Aquaplex on the northwest edge of campus.
