GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the second straight year and the third time overall, Duke University head coach Joanne P. McCallie has been selected the ACC Coach of the Year by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel, which consists of national and local media members, as well as school representatives.

McCallie led the sixth-ranked Blue Devils to a 27-2 overall record and a 17-1 mark in ACC regular season play. The 17 regular season conference wins are an ACC record.  Duke opened the season with a 16-0 mark in league action, which equaled the best start in ACC history.

The conference coach of the year honor is McCallie's seventh overall and her third ACC honor since taking over at Duke prior to the 2007-08 season.  McCallie earned ACC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012, while being selected the America East Coach of the Year in 1999 and the North Atlantic Coach of the Year in 1995 and 1996.

Duke, which has claimed at least a share of the ACC regular season title for four straight years and the outright title each of the last two years, will enter this week's ACC Tournament as the No. 1 seed.  The Blue Devils are seeded No. 1 for the fourth consecutive year.

McCallie and the Blue Devils were dealt with a huge blow on Feb. 17 against Wake Forest when junior All-America point guard Chelsea Gray went down with a season-ending knee injury.  Heading into the toughest portion of the 2012-13 schedule, Duke close the season with three victories against ranked opponents - at eighth-ranked Maryland, vs. 15th-ranked North Carolina and versus 19th-ranked Florida State.

Maryland's Brenda Frese was selected the ACC Coach of the Year in a vote by the league's 12 head coaches.  This marks the first season that the ACC's head coaches have voted on an ACC Coach of the Year Award.

Duke will open the ACC Tournament on Friday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m., against the winner of the No. 8 seed N.C. State versus the No. 9 seed Clemson game at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
