ATLANTA, Ga. - The third-ranked Duke women's tennis team finished off its 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) road schedule Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 shutout of 24th-ranked Georgia Tech. The Blue Devils have now posted a 7-0 shutout in four of their six ACC wins this season.

Duke (17-2, 6-0 ACC) opened the day strong with quick victories on courts one and three to clinch the doubles point. The Blue Devils' 42-ranked duo of freshman Ester Goldfeld and junior Mary Clayton upset the Yellow Jackets' 10th-ranked tandem of Jillian O'Neill and Alex Anghelescu, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot, before sophomore Hanna Mar and freshman Annie Mulholland took down Christina Ngo and Muriel Wacker, 8-4, in the No. 3 spot, putting Duke ahead 1-0 in the overall match.

The 25th-ranked duo of freshman Beatrice Capra and sophomore Rachel Kahan could not notch the sweep for the Blue Devils, falling 9-7 to Lynn Blau and Elizabeth Kilborn in the No. 2 spot.

Singles play continued to be Duke's strongpoint, as it went on to sweep all six matches from Georgia Tech (9-9, 3-4 ACC), improving its mark to 33-3 overall in ACC dual singles matches this season. Kahan, ranked 86th, was the first one off the court after picking up a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jasmine Minor in the No. 4 spot. Freshman and 92nd-ranked Monica Turewicz followed Kahan with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot over Blau, collecting her 20th win in her first season at Duke.

Goldfeld, the No. 112 player in the country, clinched the match for the second match in a row in the No. 2 spot with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over the 108th-ranked Kilborn. Goldfeld clinched the match Friday evening at 23rd-ranked Clemson. Capra, the second-ranked player in the nation, won a hard-fought, three-set battle over the 17th-ranked O'Neill at the No. 1 spot in the lineup to increase Duke's lead to 5-0 in the overall match. The victory was also the 20th of the season for the three-time and defending ACC Player of the Week, as the newcomer improved to 14-1 in dual singles matches.

Ranked 51st in the country, Mar continued the Blue Devil rally with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win in the No. 3 spot over 85th-ranked Caroline Lilley. Clayton, ranked 70th and playing in the No. 5 spot, completed the singles sweep and shutout with a tough 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4) win over Anghelescu. Clayton leads Duke with 26 overall and 15 dual singles victories this season.

The Blue Devils will return home for their final five ACC matches of the season, beginning with fifth-ranked Miami on Friday, Apr. 6 at 3 p.m. Duke will then host Florida State on Saturday, Apr. 7 at 11 a.m. Both matches are scheduled to be played at the Ambler Tennis Stadium.
