Kevin Jermyn enters his 13th season with the Blue Devils in the fall of 2012. Jermyn was named Associate Head Track & Field Coach in 2003 and Head Women's Cross Country Coach in July of 2004. His primary responsibilities include coaching Duke's middle and long distance runners.

The fall 2011 campaign saw Jermyn direct the women's cross country program to a fifth-place showing at the NCAA Southeast Regional and a seventh-place finish at the ACC Championships despite several experienced runners missing the season with significant injuries. He also guided Madeline Morgan to the second All-ACC honors of her career, in addition to individual qualification to the 2011 NCAA Championships, where she finished 89th overall. Morgan also joined Suejin Ahn in collecting All-Southeast Region recognition.

During the 2012 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, Jermyn coached Carly Seymour to an ACC Indoor individual title in the 5,000m and All-ACC honors during the outdoor season. Seven women qualified for the NCAA First Round with Bottorff (10,000m) and Cydney Ross (800m) advancing to the NCAA Championships in their respective events. Bottorff went on to earn Second Team All-America honors with a 14th-place finish and time of 33:45.80.

Since his arrival in Durham, Jermyn has helped lead the Duke women's cross country, middle and long distance programs to national prominence. The 2004 and 2005 cross country installments placed second and third, respectively, at the NCAA Championships, while also capturing ACC and Southeast Region titles. The Blue Devils also claimed the Southeast Region title again in 2009. Under Jermyn's guidance, the Blue Devils have finished in the top-10 at the NCAA Cross Country Championships for four of the last eight seasons, and 26 Jermyn-coached athletes have earned All-Southeast Region honors.

On the track, Jermyn's athletes have rewritten every middle and long distance relay school record both indoors and outdoors. The Blue Devils won the 2005 Penn Relays Distance Medley Championship of America title, the first Penn Relays title in Duke history for the women, as well as the 4x800m relay in 2011. The success of the Blue Devil middle and long distance runners also led Duke to a school record 12th place finish at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships, a program-best 16th-place showing at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the team title at the 2009 ECAC Indoor Championships and the team title at the 2011 and 2012 ECAC Outdoor Championships.

Individually, Jermyn has coached 18 athletes to a total of 38 NCAA All-America performances in 12 years. Jermyn coached Shannon Rowbury to Duke's first ever NCAA individual championship with her victory in the one-mile run at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships. He also guided Juliet Bottorff to the program's first NCAA individual title outdoors in the 10K during the 2011 season.

At the ECAC Championships, Jermyn has guided a total of 63 All-East performers, including 10 individual and seven relay championships, while Jermyn has also coached 34 All-ACC performers and nine ACC Champions. In addition, Jermyn has coached 10 women who have represented the United States in international cross country competitions.

A true student and fan of the sport, Jermyn is continuously involved in coaching education programs, clinics and camps. He is an USATF Level III certified coach in endurance and Level II certified in sprints, relays and hurdles. Jermyn also directs the Duke Running Camp during the summer months.

Jermyn's experience as a national class runner from high school through the professional ranks is an invaluable asset to his coaching. He competed professionally in cross country and track and field for the Reebok Enclave. Jermyn was a member of the victorious Reebok Enclave team at the 1998 USATF Cross Country Championship and raced to a personal best of 3:43.56 for 1,500-meters on the track.

As an undergraduate at Georgetown University, Jermyn led the Hoyas as team captain to numerous BIG EAST and IC4A team championships and NCAA Championship appearances. Individually, Jermyn was an All-America, All-East and All-BIG EAST selection in track and field. As a prep at Tottenville High School in Staten Island, N.Y., Jermyn was a three-time national high school champion, two-time New York state champion and a winner of the prestigious Millrose Games high school mile.

Jermyn graduated from Georgetown University cum laude in 1998 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and finance and a minor in psychology. Jermyn obtained a master's degree in liberal studies from Duke University in 2006. Jermyn's thesis was on the coaching implications of gender differences among collegiate runners.
