DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke Athletics currently ranks second in the latest Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, released Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.  
Duke’s jump from 10th place following the tabulation of winter sports to second in the first spring sports update was spearheaded by a pair of NCAA championships in men’s lacrosse and women’s golf.

Duke has secured 1,024.50 total points and is among five ACC schools ranked in the top 15, joining Notre Dame (5th), North Carolina (6th), Virginia (7th) and Florida State (13th).  Stanford leads the overall rankings with 1,509.50 total points.  

On the year, the Blue Devils have earned points in men’s basketball (25), women’s basketball (50), women’s cross country (28), fencing (60), field hockey (90), football (52), men’s indoor track and field (53.5), men’s lacrosse (100), men’s swimming and diving (53), men’s tennis (50), women’s golf (100), women’s lacrosse (70), women’s soccer (73), women’s swimming and diving (22), women’s tennis (73), women’s indoor track and field (30.5), volleyball (50) and wrestling (44.5).

The second Division I spring standings will be released June 10.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
