Athletics Announces Administrative Staff Changes

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke University Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White announced on Wednesday senior level administrative promotions within the Department of Athletics.

Nina King, a native of Tampa, Fla., and graduate of Notre Dame (2000) and Tulane Law School (2005), was named Deputy Director of Athletics/Administration, Legal Affairs and Chief of Staff.  She served as Chief of Staff since arriving at Duke in 2008. King oversees key areas within the department such as Human Resources, Legal Affairs and Recreation and Physical Education. King also acts as the sport administrator for Duke Track and Field.

Mitch Moser, whose responsibilities include oversight of the financial operation of the department, Band and Cheerleading programs, Athletics Travel, Information Systems and Game Operations, was named Deputy Director of Athletics/ Chief Financial Officer. The primary administrator for the Duke Swimming and Diving program, Moser is a 1985 graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., with degrees in business administration and communications. He has been at Duke since 1997.

Brad Berndt, who joined Duke’s staff in 1997, was promoted to Senior Associate Director of Athletics/ Academic Services. He currently oversees the department's academic affairs, athletic financial aid, athletic housing, NCAA eligibility, drug testing and institutional graduation reports, as well as serving as the primary Duke Baseball administrator. A Wausau, Wis., native, and graduate of University of Wisconsin, Berndt earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in 1983 and 1985.

Gerald Harrison was named Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Internal Affairs with oversight of Athletics Medicine, Equipment Operations and Sport Performance. Harrison took over the role of Assistant Director of Athletics/Human Resources in 2009 after serving as an Assistant Director of Athletics/Football Development. As Chairman of the NCAA Fencing Committee, he is the sport administrator for Duke Fencing and Duke Football. Harrison is a native of Florence, S.C., and a 2001 graduate from the University of Tennessee.

Jon Jackson, a member of the Duke Athletics staff since 2000, was named Senior Associate Director of Athletics/External Affairs with oversight responsibilities for the Digital Media, Marketing and Promotions, Sports Information, Ticket Operations, and Video Operations departments. He also acts as the primary administrator for Duke Wrestling. A native of Lebanon, Pa., Jackson graduated from Penn State in 1990 with a B.A. degree in mass communications.

Todd Mesibov was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics/Compliance after serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics/Compliance. He has been on the Duke staff since November of 2006 after working in the Business Law group of Foley & Lardner, LLP in Milwaukee, Wis. Mesibov is a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., with an undergraduate degree from Carleton (Minn.) College and law degree from Michigan Law School.

Tony Sales, a member of the Duke Football administrative staff since 2000, was named Assistant Director of Athletics/Student-Athlete External Affairs.  The Asheville, N.C., native and 1996 graduate of N.C. State previously held the position of Assistant Athletics Director/Football Operations.

Bob Weiseman, who joined Duke’s staff in 2008 and most recently served as the Director of Athletic Facilities, Game Operations and Championships, was elevated to Assistant Director of Athletics/Athletic Facilities, Game Operations and Championships. A native of Doylestown, Pa., Weiseman and his staff service more than 200 varsity athletic game days, 50 campus and outside events, and on average four ACC or NCAA championship postseason events annually.
