A 31-year veteran of the Duke Athletics Department, Jacki Silar has served as the associate director of athletics for sports programs and senior woman administrator since 1998. Previously, Silar was the assistant athletics director for sports programs/senior woman administrator and also served as the academic coordinator for several Blue Devil squads.

Silar has served the university on a variety of committees including the Harassment Grievance Board, Equity committee, President's Commission on the Status of Women and Campus Culture Initiative Steering Committee.

Silar served on many nationals committees include the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee and most recently the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee from 2005-2010 and held the role of Chair from 2008-2009.

On the conference level Silar is the Chair of the ACC Field Hockey Committee, and is a member of the ACC Women's Basketball Committee, Constitution and Bylaws Committee and Student-Athlete Welfare Committee.

Since Silar was named the school's first senior woman administrator in 1995, Duke's women's teams have advanced to the NCAA Final Four in basketball, lacrosse, field hockey and tennis while the women's golf team captured the 1999, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007 NCAA Championships.

Silar served as Duke's Assistant Women's Basketball coach for 12 seasons and Head Field Hockey coach for 15 years, while twice earning ACC Coach of the Year and Regional Coach of the Year honors.

A native of Pottstown, Pa., Silar graduated from High Point College in 1974 and was a four-year member of the field hockey and basketball teams.  She earned her master's degree in education from the University of North Carolina while serving as the Tar Heels' assistant field hockey coach.

Silar is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators.
