Duke Stands 21st in Latest Directorsí Cup Standings

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke Athletics stands in 21st place in the second fall Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics today.
Overall, Duke has 189 points and ranks eighth among private institutions behind only Stanford (3rd), Notre Dame (7th), Georgetown (8th), Princeton (9th), BYU (16th), Syracuse (18th) and Tulsa (20th). Five current Atlantic Coast Conference schools are ranked among the top 21 – North Carolina (2nd), Florida State (6th), Virginia (12th), Maryland (14th), and Duke (21st). The Blue Devils ended up with a 16th-place finish in 2011-12.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
