DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's lacrosse team advanced to the final four with a 12-11 win over Notre Dame Sunday.  They will face off against Cornell in the semifinal game Saturday, May 25.  Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior Eddie Loftus to learn more about the Syosset, N.Y., native.

GoDuke.com: If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Eddie Loftus:
I would split it with my whole family and buy my grandparents mansions.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite part of being a Duke student-athlete?
EL:
The support staff – everyone really cares about you, everyone really wants to see you succeed. And also just the team camaraderie. You have brothers for life.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite spot on campus?
EL:
The [Murray Building] equipment room with Jay Bissette.

GoDuke.com: If you weren’t playing lacrosse, what other sport would you play?
EL:
If I was six-foot I’d be playing basketball. I would’ve tried out for the soccer team when I was younger.

GoDuke.com: Who has been the biggest influence on your life and why?
EL:
My dad because he was a firefighter. He served 30 years in the New York Fire Department, he was a captain. He worked at Ground Zero, at the Trade Center – he went in that day. He is just a real blue-collar guy who put four kids through school without ever having to take out a loan or anything. I just really appreciate everything he’s done and how humble he is about everything.

GoDuke.com: Do you have any hidden talents?
EL:
If you give me any type of movie quote, I can probably get it. I fancy myself a movie-goer.

GoDuke.com: What’s your favorite midnight snack?
EL:
I’m not much of a cook so maybe just a peanut butter sandwich.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite class you’ve taken at Duke?
EL:
History and Issues of Sport with Al Buehler. He’s a legendary track coach. It’s 15 people smushed into his office and you all sit on couches and discuss sports and issues over a couple hundred years.

GoDuke.com: Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
EL:
Me and Charlie Payton have a secret handshake that we do the day before every game in warm-ups and right before in warm-ups on game day.

GoDuke.com: What has been your proudest moment at Duke?
EL: When I was a freshman and I didn’t get much playing time, I got a start against Presbyterian and scored six goals. And then winning a national championship is definitely number one.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite restaurant in Durham?
EL: B SKI’s in Chapel Hill.
