Armani Rice joined the Duke Athletics staff in July of 2010 where she served as the Assistant Director of Iron Dukes Special Events for three years before transitioning into the Assistant Director of Administrative Operations/Human Resources role. Rice currently serves as the department’s Special Assistant to Vice President & Director of Athletics. In this capacity, Rice oversees the day-to-day operations for the Vice President and Director of Athletics which include oversight responsibilities for the athletic director’s routine commitments, public relations obligations and traditional correspondence. In addition, she assists the Director of Athletics with responsibilities for the DI NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee, United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and Advocates for Athletic Equity (AAE). She also has oversight responsibility for all the executive administrative operations.

Rice is a 2008 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Media Studies. She was a member of the three-time Mountain West Conference Champion women’s soccer team as well as a Mountain West Conference All-Academic team member. After graduation, Rice served as the Branding and Communications intern at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

A native of Denver, Colo., Rice went on to earn a Masters of Professional Studies in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University in 2015. She is a NCAA Leadership Institute participant, Advocates for Athletic Equity member and has served on several committees throughout the athletic department, which include chairing internal committees per the Director of Athletics. She also serves as a class administrator for a sports business course in Duke’s Fuqua School of Business as part of Duke’s MBA program alongside Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White.
