DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, sat down with senior Brandon Watkins to learn more about the Durham, N.C., native. What are three of your favorite things about being a student-athlete here at Duke?
Brandon Watkins: I would definitely say the tutor support, the academic staff, and the gameday experience. What’s your favorite on the field memory?
BW: I’d say, I think last year’s spring game. I had like six receptions for eighty yards. What’s your favorite off the field memory?
BW: Definitely the community service project we did with the Children’s Hospital of Charlotte. We met a lot of kids there, for the Belk Bowl, and just got to play with them. What are three places you could travel to, if you could?
BW: I’d definitely say Tokyo. My major is computer science, so the technology there is crazy. Another place I’d say is the Bahamas. I could definitely use a vacation right now! And lastly, New York. I might actually work there after I graduate. What are your three favorite things about the sport of football?
BW: The competitiveness, the ability to show your determination. It really comes out in football more than any other sport because it’s very physically active. You’re tested mentally and physically. Third thing is the ability for my position to shine if given the opportunity. As a wide receiver, you can make plays, and you get to have the ball in your hands and get the glories. What are three things you’d like to do in the next ten years?
BW: I don’t want to get all emotional, but I definitely want to have a family and get a good career started. Family, a good career, and definitely mentoring is something I’m really considering.
