DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior Josh Hairston to learn more about the Fredericksburg, Va., native.
GoDuke.com: What are your three favorite things about being a Duke student athlete?
Josh Hairston: One, playing in Cameron. Two, the relationships that you build with other athletes – it’s a big family. Three, playing in front of the Crazies.
GoDuke.com: What is your best ‘on-court’ memory that you have here at Duke?
JH: Definitely, Austin’s (Rivers) game-winning shot against Carolina my sophomore year. It was craziness. I’ve never experienced anything like that. I’ll remember that forever.
GoDuke.com: What is your best ‘off-the-court’ memory here at Duke?
JH: There’s not one particular memory – just the friendships that I made, not only with my teammates but with students who aren’t athletes. That’s one big thing I tried to do when I first got here was meet people outside of my sport and sports in general. I’ve done a good job and made friendships that I’ll keep forever.
GoDuke.com: What are your three favorite restaurants in the Durham area?
JH: One of them would definitely be Devine’s. Two would be Bull City Burger. Three would probably be Fishmonger’s.
GoDuke.com: What are three foods you cannot live without?
JH: Hamburgers, pizza and I can’t think of a third one.
GoDuke.com: If you could have dinner with any three people, who would those people be?
JH: President Obama, Carmelo Anthony and probably Jay-Z.
