Position Title: Associate Marketing Director

Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, coordinate and perform marketing and promotional activities for and in conjunction with Duke University’s 26 varsity athletic teams.
Plan, develop, coordinate and participate in the promotion of products and/or services with activities such as advertising in campus publications, designing and distributing flyers, preparing brochures, developing other promotional vehicles.
Design advertisements; develop write, edit and design posters, schedule cards, schedule magnets, flyers, newsletters, brochures, and other publications.
Coordinate with printers and other personnel to ensure publications and promotional materials are printed on schedule and according to budgetary and other requirements.
Develop ticket marketing plans within budgetary requirements for selected sports in order to promote fan attendance and generate department operational revenue; oversight of budget for these selected sports related to marketing and promotional activities.
Perform various accounting tasks to maintain and monitor billing and reconciling expenses associated with marketing and promotion of various teams to ensure budgetary responsibility.
Develop and coordinate the dissemination of information both internally and externally related to various athletic teams to assist with creating excitement and attendance at selected sports; use of new media, email blasts, on-line web site, and new technology to reach various groups.
Develop game day scripts for video board, music, and public address announcements for selected sports and implement these live at home sporting events; coordinate efforts with campus and internal groups related to game day, including video coordinator, marketing staff, technical services, band, cheerleaders, Dancing Devils and outside groups attending and/or performing on game day.
Coordinate on-field and on-court presentations with University and external groups and individuals at various sporting and special events.
Develop budgets, marketing plans and work within budgetary requirements for ACC and NCAA post-season events held at Duke and in Durham; serve as key team member on host committees for various post-season events.
Work closely with outside entities and venues to ensure Duke Athletics meets contractual obligations and that the atmosphere at these venues puts Duke in a positive light; venues include but are not limited to Durham Bulls Athletics Park among others.
Actively develop and use social media to further marketing and branding efforts of individual sports and Duke Athletics.
Interview, hire, schedule and train student workers with oversight of 10+ student workers; ensure that students are learning skills while assisting in day-to-day and game day activities related to marketing and promotion of various sports.
Oversight of full-time marketing assistant to aid them in learning proper marketing skills, budgetary responsibility, game day experience and day-to-day growth of marketing efforts for selected sports.
Oversee youth fan club including production and distribution of monthly newsletters, promotional activities with this group at various home events, and annual clinic/picnic each spring.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Requirements:
Experience levels – 3-5 years experience (asst. director with football/basketball ticket duties).
2+ years experience (asst. director with women’s basketball duties, Olympic sports).
Ticket marketing experience.
Budget oversight and understanding of balancing budget/effective use of money
Experienced running game day scripts/video board use/creativity/ Click Effects
Organizational skills
New media experience (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
