2015: A Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete and an All-ACC Academic Team selection who was a member of the V4 during the entire season … as the season opening races against Clemson and Boston University, finished second to Clemson’s V4 in both its races (7:54.41/8:00.37) ... led the V4 to the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup Petite Final by placing third in the preliminary heat (8:06.96) … crew finished fourth in the petite final in 8:18.01 … in three races at the Clemson Invitational against seven ranked squads, part of the V4 that placed sixth (8:09.7), seventh (7:51.8) and sixth (7:58.2) … finished campaign as a member of the V4 in the ACC Championship as it placed fourth in its preliminary heat (7:36.2) and second in the Petite Final (7:53.8).

2013-14: Named to the All-ACC Academic Team and was a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete honoree … rowed with the V4 at the season-opening Cardinal Invitational, clocking a time of 7:57.50 … also part of the 2V8 for two races at the Cardinal Invitational … member of the 2V4 that placed third against Iowa, Kansas and two Clemson squads with a time of 7:56.57 … part of the 2V8 that downed No. 20 Oregon State’s crew at the Oregon State Classic with a time of 6:41.8 … rowed with the V4 at the UVA Invite as the boat finished in 7:37.5 during the early session and 7:41.6 in the second session … at the ACC Championship Grand Finale, member of the V4 that took third with a season-best time of 7:35.7.

Fall 2013: Rowed with the 3V8 at the Princeton Chase, helping the boat place 31st out of 52 entries.

2012-13: A CRCA Scholar-Athlete...an ACC Academic Honor Roll selection...a member of the V4 that finished second at the ACC Championships behind only Virginia...member of the 2V8 that logged the third-fastest time in school history, doing so at the Clemson Invitational with a time of 6:43.3...rowed in the 2V8 that advanced to the Petite Final of the Jessop-Whittier Cup...helped the 2V8 capture two second-place finishes at the Cardinal Invitational...competed with the varsity four that topped Michigan State at the UVa Invitational.

2011-12: Rowed with the N8 that placed third at the ACC Championship...competed with the N8 that placed second at the Dale England Cup.

Prep: Member of the National Honor Society...chairperson of the Habitat for Humanity.

Personal: Born May 4, 1993 in Nairobi, Kenya ... the daughter of Steven and Sarah Staal ... has one brother, Dirk, and one sister, Isabelle ... graduated from Duke in May 2015 with a degree in political science.
