DURHAM, N.C.-  As the 2013 women’s soccer campaign approaches in August, is previewing the upcoming season.  The site listed the top 10 defenders in the nation and has included Duke University rising senior Natasha Anasi on the list.

A two-time All-America and a 2011 finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, Anasi has helped guide the Duke defense to 32 shutouts over the last three years.  A product of Arlington, Texas, Anasi is just the second Blue Devil to be named NSCAA All-America on multiple occasions as she earned first team honors in 2011 and second team accolades in 2012.  The 2011 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Anasi has also tallied two goals, six assists and 10 points over her career.

Anasi is coming off a season where she played a team-high 2,017 minutes and was named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.  She also earned Second Team All-ACC honors and First Team All-Southeast Region accolades.

Other defenders on the top 10 list include Whitney Church (Penn State), Abby Dahlkemper (UCLA), Marissa Diggs (UCF), Crystal Dunn (UNC), Hanna Gardner (UNC), Jaelene Hinkle (Texas Tech), Kassey Kallman (Florida State), Laura Liedle (Stanford) and Rachel Lenz (Texas A&M).

Blue Devil rising senior Mollie Pathman was also listed as a player considered for the top 10.  A native of Durham, N.C., Pathman saw action both at the forward and defense positions in 2012, but has competed at the international level on defense.  She owns 15 goals, 22 assists and 52 points over her career at Duke.

Duke will open practice for the 2013 campaign on August 17. The Blue Devils will return seven starters in 2013, including its top six scorers from last season.
