Cassie Pecht recently to chat about her freshman year, why she decided to come to Duke and her adjustment to college soccer.DURHAM, N.C.— GoDuke.com caught up with Blue Devil women’s soccer freshman
Pecht, who is a native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., attended Cumberland Valley H.S., where she was ranked No. 10 in the class of 2012 by TopDrawerSoccer. The 5-3 forward/midfielder was a member of the 2011 U-18 Women’s National Team, 2011 NSCAA Youth All-America and 2010 Pennsylvania State Gatorade Player of the Year. She led her FC Pennsylvania Strikers club team to the U.S. Youth Soccer U-18 National Championship in July. Pecht was named the winner of the Golden Ball Award as the top player in the U-18 division as she scored three goals in the championships.
So far this season for Duke, Pecht has started all 12 matches, while collecting four goals and a team-high seven assists in both the midfield and forward slots.
Duke will next travel to Virginia Tech on Thursday, Oct. 4 for a 7:00 p.m., contest in Blacksburg, Va.
