DURHAM, N.C. – With the regular season coming to a close on Thursday evening, the ACC has released the 2012 ACC Tournament bracket with the Blue Devil women’s soccer team seeded No. 6 and will travel to third-seeded Wake Forest on Sunday, Oct. 28 in the quarterfinals.
The ninth-ranked Blue Devils (12-4-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the ACC) and sixth-ranked Demon Deacons (12-4-3, 6-3-1) will kick at 1:00 p.m., at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. The contest will be aired live on www.WakeForestSports.com.
Florida State received the No. 1 seed, while Maryland (No. 2), Wake Forest (No. 3), North Carolina (No. 4), Virginia (No. 5), Duke (No. 6), Miami (No. 7) and Boston College (No. 8) rounded out the bracket.
The winners of the quarterfinal matches advance to WakeMed Soccer Park at Cary, N.C., for semifinals on Friday, Nov. 2 at 5 and 7:30 p.m. The Championship will take place on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
Earlier this season, Wake Forest and Duke finished in a 1-1 draw in Durham, N.C., as Kim DeCesare scored a second half goal for the Blue Devils to even the match. Duke and Wake Forest will meet for the second straight year in the ACC Tournament and the fifth overall time during the last two years. The Blue Devils dropped a 2-1 decision last year in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
