DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University incoming freshman Toni Payne has been named to the NSCAA High School All-America Team as the NSCAA recognized women’s soccer standouts that played in the winter and spring seasons.
The All-America Teams are comprised of the top ranked players from each state. Each state is allocated a specific number of players based on the high school NSCAA membership in each state.
Payne, who was the 2013 Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year, scored 47 goals and registered 35 assists this past season, leading Oak Mountain High School (22-4-2) to the Class 6A state championship game. Payne was the 2012 Birmingham News Player of the Year. She concluded her prep soccer career with 141 goals and 92 assists.
The 49 male and female All-America selections will be celebrated and recognized for their accomplishments at the High School Awards Brunch on Saturday, Aug. 3, in Orlando at the 2013 Summer Symposium.
