DURHAM, N.C.—On the afternoon of May 20, 2013, two Duke student-athletes went through one of the most dangerous storms to hit the Midwest.  A EFT tornado struck Moore, Okla., with peak winds  estimated at 210 miles per hour.

Duke women’s soccer defender Anastasia Hunt and her mother survived the tornado by moving to a storm shelter in her house, while Blue Devil women’s basketball standout Richa Jackson was visiting her cousin and survived the storm in by going into a closet.  Hunt and her family ended up losing their house to the storm and since then the women’s soccer program has created the Anastasia Hunt Fund.  The team will be raising money the entire season to help the family rebuild.

The Blue Devil Network sat down with the duo to talk about their experience in this special presentation.

To donate to the fund, you can contact Fred Roland in the Duke Iron Duke’s office at (919) 613-7478 or froland@duaa.duke.edu.  Checks can be made out to Duke University and sent to Roland at 116 Cameron Indoor Stadium, Box 90542, Durham, N.C., 27708.
