DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, sat down with senior Natasha Anasi to learn more about the Arlington, Texas., native. Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke.
Natasha Anasi: The support each team has for all the other teams, the fact that we’re going to an amazing academic institution as well as athletic institution and lastly the fact that we can contend for a national championship each year. What is your favorite ‘on the field’ memory?
NA: Our Elite Eight game against Long Beach State. I just remember looking out into the crowd and seeing the most people I’ve ever seen in Koskinen Stadium. It was awesome that we had that much support for a game like that. To be able to play in front of all of our fans and friends was an amazing feeling. What is your favorite ‘off the field’ memory?
NA: When we went to Wrightsville Beach for preseason last preseason. It was a whole lot of fun and a whole lot of team-bonding. It was a good balance of playing soccer and doing well with that, as well as having bonding time with your teammates. Describe head coach Robbie Church in three words.
NA: Compassionate, sincere and intense. What would you do on a day off with no class and no practice?
NA: I’d go to the Eno [State Park] and hang out there because it’s relaxing. What are your favorite restaurants in Durham?
NA: Geer Street Garden, Nanataco and Bull City Burger and Brewery. Who do you model your game after?
NA: Growing up I’ve been a huge Manchester United fan so I would have to say Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic were the two center backs that I always enjoyed watching. They were both super aggressive and really strong players in the back. Name three people dead or alive you would have dinner with if you could.
NA: President Obama, Bob Marley because I watched his documentary and it was amazing and Kayne West because I think he’s just an interesting person.
