DURHAM, N.C.— In July, the Duke women’s soccer team and Morgan Blazek were brought together through Team IMPACT. Since then the two have developed a special bond on and off the soccer field.
Morgan is a native of Apex, N.C., and is eight years old. In May of 2007, she was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, which is cancer of the retinas. The original diagnosis stated she had two weeks to live and upon surgery Morgan had one of her eyes removed, which put her on the path to recovery.
Since joining the Blue Devils, Morgan has come out to practices, games and spent quality time with the Blue Devils. Morgan even signed on to become an official member of the team recently.
