Robbie Church and the Duke women’s soccer team will hit the field this weekend for its first spring contest of 2014. The Blue Devils will take on North Carolina on Saturday, March 1 at 11:00 a.m., on the 751 field on the Duke campus.DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach
Other action scheduled for this spring includes March 5 at Elon at 5:00 p.m., and March 22 versus Florida at WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C., at 10 a.m. Duke will then compete in the ACC Spring Tournament on April 6 in Clemmons, N.C. The Blue Devils will face N.C. State and Wake Forest.
Duke will close the spring with a match against Virginia on April 13 in Richmond, Va.
The Blue Devils collected a 9-9-6 record in 2013 and reached the Elite Eight for the third straight year.
Duke is expected to return five starters in 2014 – Kelly Cobb, Toni Payne, Lizzy Raben, Christina Gibbons and Kara Wilson. The Blue Devils will also return midfielder Gilda Doria and 2012 National Freshman of the Year Cassie Pecht, who were both out the entire season with injuries. Meghan Thomas and Ali Kershner, who both shared time in goal will each return in the net for the Blue Devils.
