DURHAM, N.C. - Former Duke University women's soccer goalkeeper Allison Lipsher has signed a contract with the Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) for the 2011 campaign.
Lipsher, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, played for the Boston Breakers in 2009 and ranked among the league leaders in shutouts with five at the season's end. She remained with the Breakers in 2010 on the practice squad before heading to the Australian league to play in the off-season.
A four-year letterwinner with the Blue Devils, Lipsher graduated in 2007 with a degree in history. She owns 33 career shutouts and a Duke career-best 0.87 goals-against average. Her 33 shutouts ranks second in the Blue Devil record books.
The WPS opens preseason training on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
The Atlanta Beat hosts the University of North Carolina on Saturday, March 19 at 12:00 p.m., in a preseason match at Kennesaw State Soccer Stadium.
