Sophomore Mollie Pathman is traveling to La Manga, Spain with the U-20 U.S. Women's National Team. She is going to be providing a blog during the trip so Blue Devil soccer fans can follow the team on this special trip.
Hello Blue Devil fans,
Twenty-three hours, three plane flights and one bus ride after leaving Durham this week, I finally made it to the beautiful La Manga, Spain. The trip was long but it gave us plenty of time to catch up.
The trip went smoothly minus two minimally delayed flights until we arrived in Murcia without 15 of our bags, including eight personal bags, the ball bags, the pennies and cones, and the stadium jackets. They are supposedly in Madrid and will arrive tomorrow but our coordinator is not making any promises.
We arrived at the hotel just in time for lunch and immediately following lunch we began preparing for training. Needless to say the original plan for practice had to be revised due to the lack of pennies, cones and balls. We ended up just jogging and stretching to help our legs recover from the travel day and we also used it as an opportunity to review our position attacking and defensive set pieces.
I am currently in my room trying to stay awake for our 8:30 meeting. We are living in apartment style rooms that consist of three double rooms joined with a common room and kitchen. From our balcony one can see our practice fields, the ocean and the mountains. We are very fortunate to be here and are exited to begin real training.
