DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke University sophomore Alex Straton had surgery on Thursday at the Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center, after suffering an injury during spring practice with the Blue Devil women’s soccer team.  Straton’s surgery was performed by Dr. Alison Toth to reconstruct her left ACL.

A product of Oakton, Va., Straton played in 24 matches for the Blue Devils on the defensive end, while starting two.  Straton registered four assists on the season and logged over 1,100 minutes in 2011.  She is one of the fastest student-athletes on the squad.  In two years, Straton has played in 44 matches and collected six assists.

Duke is coming off advancing to the NCAA College Cup and producing a 22-4-1 overall record under the direction of head coach Robbie Church.  The Blue Devils went 8-1-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as Duke won the ACC regular season title.
