Christina Gibbons continued her standout play on Tuesday night in the 2013 North Carolina East/West All-Star game as she registered a goal to help the East squad finish with a 2-2 draw at UNC Greensboro in Greensboro, N.C.
Gibbons, who was coming off being named MVP of the North Carolina squad in the Clash of the Carolinas after totaling two goals and an assist, collected a header in the 38th minute to even the match, 1-1, on Tuesday evening. Each squad added late goals in the match to conclude the contest, 2-2, which marked the third straight year the East/West game finished in a draw.
As a senior, Gibbons registered 34 goals and added 20 assists for Cardinal Gibbons. She collected 53 goals and 31 assists over her final two years of high school and led her squad to the 3-A State Championship to close her career.
Gibbons and the rest of the 2013 Duke women’s soccer team will report to campus in two weeks with the first practice taking place on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
