DeCesare Set to Open WPSL Season Sunday

HANOVER, Mass. – Duke University graduate Kim DeCesare will kick off her season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Sunday, May 18 as the 2013 All-ACC selection will compete with the Boston Breakers Reserves.  

The Breakers Reserves will face the Boston Breakers College Academy Sunday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m., at Harvard Stadium.  It will be a part of a doubleheader that includes the Boston Breakers against the Chicago Red Stars.  

After moving to the forward position as a junior, DeCesare flourished as a scorer for the Blue Devils posting 22 goals over the last two seasons.  For her career, she finished with 29 goals, 15 assists and 73 points.  DeCesare’s 29 goals ranked sixth all-time at Duke and her 73 points were ninth.  As a senior, she earned All-ACC Third Team accolades, while being selected to the All-ACC Second Team her junior campaign.  DeCesare, who is out of Massapequa Park, N.Y., concluded her career with nine game-winning goals and six contests with two more tallies.  

Head coach Frankie D'Agostino will lead the Breakers Reserves this season, which includes DeCesare along with a number of players who have trained with the club during preseason.

The Boston Breakers Reserves will play a 10-game regular season, which features matches against the New England Mutiny, Seacoast United Phantoms, Seacoast United Mariners, Boston Aztec, and Boston Breakers College Academy.
