DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 1 ranked Duke women’s golf team will conclude the 2012 fall campaign this weekend as the Blue Devils will travel to Wilmington, N.C., for the Landfall Tradition, which will take place from Oct. 26-28 at the Country Club of Landfall.
The tournament will feature 18 holes each day at the 6,138-yard, par 72 Jack Nicklaus Course. Seeing action this weekend will be Arizona, Duke, Florida State, Iowa State, Michigan State, Mississippi, UNC Greensboro, N.C. State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Texas Tech, Wake Forest and UNC Wilmington.
In three tournaments this fall, Duke has turned in a second place, tied for sixth and is coming off a fourth place finish at the Tar Heel Invitational. Duncan, who is out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., owns a team-best 71.33 stroke average and has finished in the top 10 in all three events.
Last season, Duke turned in a seventh place finish at the Landfall Tradition with rounds of 314, 303 and 307 for a total of 924. Cangrejo, who is out of Bogota, Colombia, registered a team-best tied for second place ledger as she notched rounds of 75, 76 and 70 for a 54-hole total of 221.
The Blue Devils last won the Landfall Tradition in 2009 as Duke carded a final round of 288 to come-from-behind and defeat UCLA by one stroke with a three-day ledger of 881.
