Ross is the first Blue Devil to ever break the 2:06 mark in the event and this was the second personal record set by the St. Louis, Mo., native in as many weeks. Last week, she ran a personal record on her way to her first ACC title. The fifth year senior also ran an impressive 800m leg in the women's distance medley relay Friday night.
Sophomore Elizabeth Kerpon also set a personal record and new school record, running the 400m in 54.38 to finish in 11th overall. This is the third time that Kerpon has broken the record in this particular event.
Sophomore Carolyn Baskir also set a new personal record in the mile run by crossing the line in 4:46.50 and sixth place while sophomore Kyle Moran rounded out the runners at the Notre Dame hosted event clocking a time of 1:52.01 in the men's 800m.
Several field event athletes competed at the 2013 VT Final Qualifier including junior Michelle Anumba who finished second in the shot put with her best throw measuring 53-3.75 (16.25). Other top performances came from junior Tanner Anderson who finished third overall in the men's high jump clearing 6-9.75 (2.08) and freshman Megan Clark who cleared a college-best height of 13-1 (3.99) in the pole vault to finish fifth overall.
This weekend closed out the final weekend of the indoor regular season. Next week, the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. March 8-9 Duke will be sending an all-female contingent to the meet including senior Juliet Bottorff in the 5,000m, Ross in the 800m and the women's distance medley relay team composed of junior Gabby Levac, Kerpon, Ross and freshman Anima Banks.
