Bob Weiseman joined the Duke Athletic Department in January of 2008 and serves as the Director of Athletic Facilities, Game Operations and Championships.
Since his arrival at Duke, Weiseman has seen his role grow on an almost annual basis. Weiseman started his tenure by serving as the equipment manager for the Duke Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, and Women’s Soccer teams from January of 2008 to January of 2010. In 2010, Weiseman was tasked with further developing Duke’s Game Operations department as the Game Operations Manager. Under Weiseman’s leadership, the Game Operations department evolved significantly and began servicing all Duke home athletics events. In July of 2012, Weiseman was promoted to the Director of Athletic Facilities and Game Operations. The department then expanded once again a year later to add planning and coordinate for all ACC and NCAA Championships hosted on campus.
On the game operations and championships side, Weiseman and his staff service over 200 varsity athletic game days, 50 campus and outside events, and on average 4 ACC or NCAA championships annually. Weiseman serves as the primary game manager for Duke Football and Track and Field.
On the facilities side, Weiseman is heavily involved in the day to day upkeep and maintenance of athletic facilities as well as serving as the athletics project manager for all major capital projects. Weiseman also serves as the lead athletic facilities liaison to Duke Facilities Management, Project Management, Grounds, Sanitation and Recycling, and Housekeeping.
Weiseman was honored by his peers in March of 2013 as the 2012-13 Duke Excellence Award winner for demonstrating the true values of Duke Athletics in the office, on campus, and in the community. Weiseman will also be honored as the 2013 Duke Police Coveted Badge award winner. The award is provided to a civilian for providing extraordinary service to the Duke Police Department.
Weiseman came to Duke from Villanova University where he served in a variety of capacities from 2000-07 including media relations assistant (2000-01), assistant coordinator of marketing, promotions, and special events (2001-03) and assistant director of athletic facilities and operations (2004-05) and then director of athletic facilities and operations (2005-07).
During his time spent in athletic facilities and operations at Villanova, Weiseman served as the primary game manager for Villanova Football, Women's Basketball, and all Olympic sports as well as being the secondary game manager for Men's Basketball. In addition to his game management responsibilities, Weiseman also was responsible for generating revenue through rental of athletic facilities, serving as the primary event manager for rentals, campus events, and athletic camps, maintaining and scheduling athletic facilities, and serving as project manager for athletic facility renovations.
A native of Doylestown, Pa., Weiseman is a 2000 graduate of Lynchburg College with a major in Communications Studies and a minor in Sports Management. While at Lynchburg College, Weiseman served as sports information intern and public address announcer for all Hornet programs from 1997-00. He married the former Meghan Carolan, a native of Hicksville, N.Y., in July 2009 and the couple resides in Durham, N.C where they are expecting their first child in November of 2013. Meghan Weiseman is also a member of the Duke Athletic Department staff.
