DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, sat down with senior Ross Cockrell to learn more about the Waxhaw, N.C., native. Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke.
Ross Cockrell: Number one, just being part of a team and having a family on campus. Number two, just being at Duke. I love Duke. I love the culture and the atmosphere here. Number three, you get the best of both worlds – you get a great education and you get to play football. What is your favorite ‘on the field’ memory?
RC: When we beat UNC. Having the fans rush the field, that’s something I’ll probably never forget. What is your favorite ‘off the field’ memory?
RC: Two years ago, I went to King’s Dominion with a couple of teammates and we had a good time up there. Describe coach Cutcliffe in three words.
RC: Always telling stories. Name three things you would like to do in the next 10 years.
RC: I would like to play in the NFL, I would like to finish my master’s and I would like to start a family. Who are three people you model your game after?
RC: I try to just create my own style. What are three foods you can’t live without?
RC: My mom makes these porkchops and rice and gravy. I love that, I can’t live without that. Bananas. And peanut butter and jelly. Describe yourself in three words.
RC: Striving for excellence.
