GoDuke.com: What has been your proudest moment at Duke?
Brian Moore: I'd have to say my first year playing, beating NC State at their place. Thatm game set a whole bunch of different records.
GoDuke.com: What is the most misunderstood thing about your sport?
BM: I would say the time commitment. Most sports don't have the year-round practice schedule like football. We have the season, and then you go right into spring practice and summer training. It's just a grueling year-round schedule. People think that you are done as soon as the season is over.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite part about being a Duke student-athlete?
BM: It's the reason I came here really. We have the best of both worlds in that we compete in one of the best conferences in college football, we get to go to one of the best schools and we have amazing teachers. The faculty here is great and just having a Duke degree once we leave here is probably the best part about it.
GoDuke.com: What's been your favorite class at Duke?
BM: Equity Research Class, which was a seminar with 12 students. It was co-taught by a professor at Duke and Blake Goodner, who Skyped in every other Monday from New York. So we were able to study some real-world cases and examples. On the days we would have another teacher who taught us. I have never had a class where we had two teachers, one with Skype; it was so intimate with just 12 students. I learned a lot and it was pretty cool.
GoDuke.com: What has been your most challenging class at Duke?
BM: I would definitely have to say the math classes that I have had to take for economics. They have been pretty tough. They are interesting but you can't take a day off.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite spot on campus?
BM: I am always at Yoh. We go for practice, treatment and we eat here. I don't really get to see too much of campus other than the football building.
GoDuke.com: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
BM: I have quite a few lawyers in my family so we frequently had legal discussions at the dinner table. I wanted to be involved in the CIA or some law agency.
GoDuke.com: What do you want to be now?
BM: I am actually trying to figure that out. I would love to use my economics degree and work for a big company, definitely in the business world.
GoDuke.com: Who has been the biggest influence on your life?
BM: I would probably have to say my two older brothers. I have learned so much from them. As the youngest of five children, I have been able to learn from their successes and failures. They have kept me out of a lot of trouble. Being younger, they helped me stay out of a lot of trouble. They have always been my biggest supporters are always trying to help me out.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite midnight snack?
BM: Probably a protein shake right before I go to bed. I'm always trying to put on weight.
