CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Duke football team took a trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday morning and took part in the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
The Blue Devils suited up in fire-retardant suits and jumped in NASCAR-sanctioned stock cars where drivers took the players around the 1.5-mile track reaching a top speed of 165 miles per hour. Head coach David Cutcliffe led off the event by jumping in the passenger seat of Richard Petty's #43 car for the inaugural lap. Also part of the experience were a tire change challenge and an RC car race.
Defensive end Kenny Anunike wore a microphone and sunglasses-cam for the Blue Devil Network to help document the afternoon in an exclusive feature for GoDuke.com. You can ride along with Duke's starting defensive end by clicking here.
