DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University Athletics is proud to announce the inaugural Battle of the Badges competition that will take place throughout the 2013-14 season. Law Enforcement, Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services around the triangle will compete in a multi-sport competition based on three main components.
The first aspect of the competition will be based on the attendance at the Duke Hometown Heroes football game taking place on October 12 against Navy and the Duke women’s basketball game against Pittsburgh on January 26. The second component of the competition will be based on Duke spirit from the group who cheers the loudest, wears their Duke blue and creates the largest impact on the game. The final component of the competition will involve a skills challenge at halftime of the women’s basketball game judged by Duke University officials.
Participation is welcome for our Hometown Heroes in the triangle area and their friends and families throughout the state as well. The winner of the competition will be announced at the women’s basketball game will be on January 26 where the winning group will be presented with the Battle of the Badges cup.
