DURHAM, N.C. -- Today's Duke Football Summer Spotlight focuses on redshirt senior defensive end Dezmond Johnson, who enters the 2014 season atop the depth chart at left defensive end.
Johnson has been a steady contributor to Duke's defensive line rotation, appearing in all 24 games of his career with six starts. He totaled 22 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 quarterback sack, one pass breakup, four QB h urries and two fumble recoveries in 2014 while serving as the backup to starting left end and team captain Justin Foxx.
Johnson, a 6-4, 260-pound native of Nashville, Tenn., is the most experienced member of a Duke defensive line that feature sseven players with more than 600 career snaps. He has 65 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and nine QB hurries in his career and led Duke's defensive ends with a 450-pound squat in the spring weight lifting evaluation.
