DURHAM, N.C. – As a member of the 2010 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, Duke’s Bryan Morgan participated in a community volunteer project in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward on Monday.

Morgan, who this past season was a senior captain for the Blue Devils and earned a spot on the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, joined his fellow team members, Allstate employees and volunteers from lowernine.org to help restore and revitalize the neighborhood still trying to rebuild from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina five years ago.

Morgan and the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team are in New Orleans where they will be formally honored for their community efforts at halftime of the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Tuesday night.  This is the 19th year of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, a national award honoring 22 players from all levels of college football who stand out for their volunteer and charitable efforts.

A native of Hoover, Ala., Morgan played in 47 career games while starting all 36 contests at center over the past three seasons.  On the gridiron for 2,904 career snaps, he helped protect two Duke quarterbacks – Thaddeus Lewis (2009) and Sean Renfree (2010) – who threw for over 3,000 yards in a single season.
