DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior wide receiver Jamison Crowder was named a National Punt Returner of the Week by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) after returning a punt 76 yards for a touchdown and totaling 113 punt return yards in Duke’s season-opening 45-0 win over N.C. Central.
Crowder also returned his first punt of the game 25 to post an average of 22.6 yards per return on five attempts. He finished with 175 all-purpose yards, including 62 receiving yards on six receptions.
A watch list selection for the Biletnikoff Award and the CFPA All-Purpose Performer of the Year Award, Crowder was one of six chosen by the CFPA for the Punt Returner of the Week Award. Joining him were Shane Wynn (Indiana), Kyle Griswould (Middle Tennessee State), Ryan Burbrink (Bowling Green), Christion Jones (Alabama) and Joe Hansley (Colorado State).
Crowder will lead the Blue Devils into their week two matchup at Memphis this Saturday, Sept. 7, at 4:30 p.m. (EST). The game will air live on ESPN3 and on the Blue Devil Sports IMG Sports Network. Check local listing for station affiliates.
