Crowder & Edwards Named All-America by Phil Steele

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke return specialists Jamison Crowder and DeVon Edwards were both selected to the Phil Steele All-America Team, while Edwards also received Freshman All-America honors and 10 Blue Devils earned All-ACC recognition from the publication.

Crowder, a junior wide receiver and punt returner who has set school record with 96 receptions for 1,197 yards this season, was named to the All-America second team for his third All-America honor this season. Edwards, a redshirt freshman safety and kickoff returner who has scored four non-offensive touchdowns this season, earned a spot on the third team for his second All-America citation.

Crowder has also earned All-America honors from the Football Writers Association of America (second team) second team and the Sports Illustrated (second team) as a return specialist. A 5-9, 175-pound native of Monroe, N.C., he has scored 10 touchdowns this season, including seven receiving, two on punt returns and one rushing, while totaling 1,669 all-purpose yards.

Edwards was also named to the Walter Camp Foundation All-America second team this season after averaging an ACC-leading 31.1 yards per kickoff return with two touchdowns returns covering 100 and 99 yards. A 5-9, 180-pound native of Covington, Ga., he has returned 18 kickoffs for 559 yards to rank second nationally in kickoff return average.

Ten Blue Devils received All-ACC honors from Phil Steele, including first-team selections Crowder (WR), Edwards (KR), linebacker Kelby Brown, cornerback Ross Cockrell and offensive guard Laken Tomlinson; second team safety Jeremy Cash and punter Will Monday; and third team defensive end Kenny Anunike, tight end Braxton Deaver and offensive tackle Perry Simmons.

The ACC Coastal Division Champion Blue Devils will take on Texas A&M in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31 in Atlanta, Ga., at 8 p.m.
