Atlanta, Ga. -- For the first time in program history, Bowl Week has begun for Duke Football for the second straight season.
After the Blue Devils arrived in Atlanta on Christmas night, Duke took to the practice field for the first time Thursday morning in the Georgia Dome, home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and former Duke quarterback Sean Renfree.
Wearing helmets and shorts, Duke began the first phase of its final preparations for the Chick-Fil-A Bowl on New Year’s Eve against former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel and 20th-ranked Texas A&M. A win against the Aggies would be the team’s 11th on the season, yet another program record in a season full of firsts for the Blue Devils.
National Coach of the Year David Cutcliffe and offensive guard Dave Harding offered their pre-practice thoughts exclusively to the Blue Devil Network before hitting the field for the first of several on-site practices at the Georgia Dome. Duke will also practice at Georgia Tech in the week leading up to Tuesday night’s game.
