The Duke Football Summer Spotlight runs every Tuesday and Thursday on GoDuke.com and features interviews with members of the reigning ACC Coastal Division Champion Blue Devils.

DURHAM -- Starting quarterback Anthony Boone is the focus of this week’s Duke Football Summer Spotlight. Boone enters the 2014 season as Duke’s signal caller for the second straight year after guiding the program to its most successful season last season. In his first season as Duke’s primary passer, Boone started 11 games and went 9-2 in those contests, missing the other three with a broken collarbone.

Despite the injury, which he suffered in week two against Memphis, Boone completed 206-of-322 passes for 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions with a .640 completion percentage. He added 66 rushes for 284 yards and five touchdowns to account for 18 total touchdowns.

The highlight of Boone’s season came in the Chick-fil-A Bowl when he hit on 29-of-45 passes for a career-high 427 yards and three touchdowns while adding 27 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. The 427 yards were the most by a Duke player in a bowl game, while the three passing touchdowns tied the school record.

Duke returns 44 letterwinners (20 offense; 21 defense; three special teams) and 17 starters (eight offense; six defense, three special teams) from a squad that went 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the ACC while reaching the Chick-fil-A Bowl a year ago.
