DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke football team, both players and coaches, took to Duke's West Campus early Tuesday morning to pick up trash and debris as part of the annual campus cleanup project.
The reigning ACC Coastal Division Champion Blue Devils split into four groups and tackled the main areas of the West Campus. Each player was armed with a garbage bag and rubber gloves and spent an hour picking up garbage before depositing the findings into a truck. In all, the Blue Devils amassed hundreds of pounds of trash that was hauled away from campus.
Duke has conducted its annual campus cleanup for seven straight years. The event began with the tenure of head coach David Cutcliffe, who has guided Duke to back-to-back bowls, a record-setting 10-win season in 2013 and a berth in the 2013 Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game.
Duke opens the 2014 season on Aug. 30 against Elon at Wallace Wade Stadium. Tickets are available at www.goduke.com/footballtix or by calling (919) 681-BLUE.
