WILMINGTON, N.C. – Freshman midfielder Imani Dorsey scored just 50 seconds into the match and No. 18 Duke held on to down UNC Wilmington, 1-0, in the second and final preseason exhibition game for the Blue Devils Saturday evening at the UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington, N.C.

Dorsey’s early score stood up after both teams tightened up defensively and battled to a stalemate the rest of the way before 296 fans.

Dorsey, who is out of Elkridge, Md., took the ball on the left flank, dribbled through the Seahawk defense and launched a shot from 10 yards out that deflected off UNCW goalie Liisa Rahkola's hands just under the crossbar for the only tally of the game.

Duke posted a 10-5 advantage in shots with six different Blue Devils having attempts.  Dorsey led the way with four, while Kelly Cobb (2), Ashton Miller, Morgan Reid, Danielle Duhl and Toni Payne each attempted one.

In goal for the Blue Devils, redshirt senior Meghan Thomas and freshman EJ Proctor split time and neither netted a save over 45 minutes each.

Duke will open the regular season Friday, Aug. 22 against Ohio State in the UNC Nike Classic at 5:00 p.m., in Chapel Hill, N.C.
