Setting the Scene...
After opening the season with back-to-back victories over the weekend, the fourth-ranked Duke women's basketball (2-0) will close a three-game homestand on Friday, Nov. 23 as the Blue Devils will host Valparaiso (2-2) at 7 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Friday's game will be aired live on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) calling the action. It will also be aired live on the Blue Devil Network via www.GoDuke.com.
Following the game on Friday, Duke will hit the road for the first time in 2012-13 to face Xavier on Sunday, Nov. 25.
Duke enters Friday winners of 56 straight home contests against unranked non-conference opponents ... in the first two games, Duke hit 52.0 percent from downtown, led by Tricia Liston's 7-of-11 (63.6%) ... the Blue Devils open the season with three straight home games for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
• Duke held Iona to 31 points in the last game, which marks the 18th time under Coach P the Blue Devils have held an opponent to under 40 points.
• The 84 points in the season opener is the second-most by a Blue Devil team under Coach P in the opening contest of the season (second to 104 against Houston Baptist on Nov. 13, 2009).
• Duke owns a 33-2 record since the 2008-09 campaign against non-conference opponents at home in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
• The Blue Devils have notched a 22-3 record in the month of November the last four years. Duke has won 25 straight home games in the month of November with the last loss coming to South Carolina on Nov. 25, 2001 (87-81, OT).

A Look at Valparaiso...
The Crusaders enter Friday's matchup with an overall record of 2-2 after dropping consecutive games on the road against Butler and IUPUI last week. Valparaiso kicked off the season with wins over Indiana and Purdue Calumet at home before beginning a four game roadtrip that concludes with a game against Western Illinois Nov. 27.
Tabitha Gerardot (14.0 points, 8.8 rebounds), Shaquira Scott (12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds) and Chara Richardson (7.0 points, 5.3 rebounds) have led the way in scoring for Valparaiso this year.
Head coach Tracey Dorow enters her first season as head coach of the Crusaders after spending 14 years at the helm at Ferris State. At Ferris State, Dorow compiled a 232-163 (.587) record, including a 23-7 mark in 2011-2012 while guiding the Bulldogs to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Duke Versus the Horizon League...
Duke holds a record of 7-0 all-time against Horizon League teams -- Cleveland St. (1-0), Detroit (3-0), Wisconsin - Green Bay (1-0) and Wisconsin - Milwaukee (2-0).
The last meeting between Duke and a Horizon League member came on December 27, 2002 when the Blue Devils downed Detroit, 92-52.
McCallie owns a 10-1 record all-time against Horizon League members.
Impressive First Weekend...
The Blue Devils were very impressive in their two games over the weekend averaging 92.0 points, hitting 50.4 percent from the field, 52.0 percent from downtown and outrebounding opponents by a 16.5 margin.
Duke hit 80.6 percent of its free throws and held the two opponents to an average of 38.0 points.
Vernerey Matches Career High...
Senior Allison Vernerey registered 20 points in the first half against Iona and went on to match a career high with 22 points in the last game against the Gaels. She hit 11-of-15 field goals, grabbed seven rebounds and dished a career-high five assists.
Her 11 field goals made was a new career high for the native of France. Vernerey collected just her second career game with 20 or more points.
In two games, Vernerey is hitting 78.9 percent of her field goals.
Junior Class Producing...
In two games so far this season, the junior class of Chelsea Gray, Tricia Liston and Haley Peters are averaging 47.5 points, 19.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 6.3 steals. They are a part of the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the nation three years ago.
Peters, Liston Notch 20+ Points...
A pair of Blue Devil juniors -- Haley Peters and Tricia Liston -- each registered a game-high 21 points in the season opener against Presbyterian.
The duo combined to hit 15-of-23 field goals and 5-of-8 treys on the night.
Peters collected her third career game with 20 or more points, while Liston notched the eighth of her three-year career. Liston also matched a career high with four assists, while pulling down nine boards.
Williams Sees More Minutes...
Sophomore Elizabeth Williams continues to come off the bench as she saw action in 11 and 18 minutes the first two games. She is recovering from a stress fracture in her leg, which occurred prior to the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
In the last game, Williams posted 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 18 minutes. She hit 6-of-11 field goals.

Looking Back at the Exhibition Games...
In two exhibition games, the Blue Devils averaged 128.0 points, hit 61.0 percent of their field goals and 58.6 percent from downtown. Tricia Liston averaged a team-best 24.5 points to go along with 10.5 boards, while Haley Peters averaged 17.5 points and 19.5 rebounds. A total of seven Duke student-athletes averaged double-figure scoring in the two contests -- Chelsea Gray (22.0), Alexis Jones (19.0), Allison Vernerey (16.5), Sierra Moore (14.5) and Ka'lia Johnson (12.5).
As a team, Duke returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's team that posted a 27-6 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. The Blue Devils return 88.7 percent of their scoring from a year ago, including All-America selections sophomore Elizabeth Williams and junior Chelsea Gray.
Other returning starters include Tricia Liston and Haley Peters, while Allison Vernerey, Richa Jackson, Amber Henson, Ka'lia Johnson and Jenna Frush lettered in 2011-12. Wells, who is out of Colton, Calif., returns for the Blue Devils, after missing the second semester last year.
The Injury Bug...
Duke concluded the 2011-12 campaign with injury issues and the Blue Devils will start the 2012-13 season with the same problems.
The Blue Devils are expected to be without the services of redshirt freshman Amber Henson (knee), junior Chloe Wells (leg) and junior Richa Jackson (knee).
Freshman Katie Heckman tore the ACL in her left knee during preseason practice and had surgery on Nov. 8. She will miss the entire 2012-13 campaign.
With Henson, Jackson and Wells out, the Blue Devils are down to nine scholarship players.
