DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University freshman Alexis Jones was selected the ACC Rookie of the Week on Monday by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel, after nearly registering a triple-double at No. 8 Maryland on Sunday with 15 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.

The honor for Jones marks the second time this season she has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week as the 5-8 guard received honors on Nov. 26 as well.

A product of Irving, Texas, Jones averaged 10.5 points, 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals this past week as she helped lead fifth-ranked Duke to wins against two ranked opponents.  Jones took over the point guard slot for junior All-America Chelsea Gray this week following a knee injury sidelined Gray for the remainder of the season.

In one of the biggest stages of her young career on Sunday in front of over 15,000 fans at Maryland, Jones posted a career-high 15 points, dished a career-high nine assists and pulled down eight rebounds in a career-high 36 minutes.  Jones nine assists ranks as the tied for sixth-highest single-game total by a freshman at Duke.  With the win, Duke clinched the ACC regular season title for the fourth straight year and the second consecutive year outright.

On Friday against 19th-ranked Florida State, Jones posted six points, four assists and three steals.  She is averaging 7.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals on the season, while starting all 27 contests.

Georgia Tech’s Tyaunna Marshall was named the ACC Player of the Week.  Duke (26-1, 16-0 ACC) will next travel to Miami to face the Hurricanes on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7:00 p.m.
