DURHAM, N.C. -- Former Blue Devil Wes Roach fired a 15-under 269 to finish fifth at the Brasil Classic Presented by HSBC this weekend. Roach, a 2011 Duke graduate and four-year letterwinner, played bogey-free golf over the final 37 holes of the Tour event.

After shooting 71-67 to narrowly make the cut, Roach blistered the Sao Paolo Golf Club for an eight-under 63. The Knoxville, Tenn., native carded four birdies on the front nine and finished strong with birdies on No. 13, No. 15, No. 17 and No. 18. Roach's 63 is his best round on the Tour.

Roach continued his bogey-free golf in the final round carding three birdies on the opening nine before closing out the day with 10 straight pars.

The fifth place finish matches Roach's best showing on the Tour. He also finished tied for fifth at the 2012 Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open. Roach earned conditional status for 2013 with his tie for fifth at the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open, the final event of the 2012 season.

Roach has now made the cut in 11 of his last 13 Tour events. He earned over $60,000 in 21 events last season and has made the cut in both events in 2013.
