Rowing Takes On Wisconsin & Michigan State

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke rowing team will compete in its final regatta before the ACC Championship, taking on No. 16 Wisconsin and Michigan State at the UVa Invitational this Saturday on Lake Monticello.

Duke is coming off of the Clemson Invitational last weekend in which the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four clocked their best times of the season. The V8 turned in a time of 6:25.1 at the event, which ranked as the fourth fastest time in program history. In the 2V8, the Blue Devils clocked a 6:43.3 which was the third fastest in school history, while the V4 notched a 7:20.1 which also ranked third in the Duke record books.

Powering the Duke varsity eight this Saturday will be Caroline Kiritsy (cox), Emily Theys, Claire Vannelli, Alex Stonehill, Katie Dukovich, Tara Dalton, Laura Sciarrino, Grace Cassidy and Hannah Hewitt.

In the second varsity eight will be Simone Pitre, Dana Lerro, Sophia Blair, Allison Beattie, Sydney Johnson, Karolina Wadolowska, Rachel Wolsfelt, Victoria Tsamis and Kaila Perez.

The varsity four will feature the lineup of Caroline Williams, Katie Burke, Sophia Staal, Nicole Antoine with senior coxswains Sarah Baker and Ashleigh Anne McKinney alternating one race each.

Following the UVa Invitational, Duke will have two weeks to prepare for the ACC Rowing Championships on Sunday, May 12. The Blue Devils have claimed 11 top-three finishes in their 13 previous trips to the event.
