Women's Soccer to Host NCAA 2nd & 3rd Rounds

DURHAM, N.C. – After advancing on penalty kicks at 24th-ranked Colorado College Saturday, the NCAA announced on Sunday morning the Duke women’s soccer team will host the NCAA Tournament second and third rounds on Friday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 24 at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C.

St. John’s, Arkansas, Florida and Duke will compete this weekend.  St. John’s will take on Arkansas on Friday, Nov. 22 at 5:00 p.m., followed by Duke versus second-seeded Florida at 7:30 p.m.  The two winners will advance to play in the NCAA Sweet 16 on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1:00 p.m.

Duke features an 8-8-5 overall mark this season after advancing to the second round on penalty kicks, 4-3, at Colorado College.  The two squads battled 110 minutes to a 1-1 score before heading to penalty kicks.  Kelly Cobb scored Duke’s lone goal and closed the penalty kick session with a finish. 

Currently ranked sixth in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I ledger, Florida notched a 2-0 win against Jacksonville on Saturday in the NCAA first round.  The Gators own an 18-4-1 overall record this season. 

Arkansas totaled a 2-1 win against Oklahoma State on Friday as the Razorbacks were making their first NCAA Tournament appearance.  The Razorbacks enter the second round with a 14-8 overall record, which is a school-record win total. 

St. John’s owns a 12-5-3 record this season and registered a 3-1 victory at ninth-ranked Central Florida on Saturday to advance to the NCAA second round.  The Red Storm is appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years.
